Be Better
Self Improvement and Wellness
We can all improve who we are
Escape the comfort zone
Your Comfort Zone
Your comfort zone is the worst place you can spend any time if you want to see growth in your life.
Challenge yourself to escape the comfort zone
Embrace Adversity.
Challenge yourself constantly.
Try a new hobby.
Seek feedback from people who aren’t afraid to hurt your feelings.
If it scares you, then it means that you need to do it.
If your goals are not intimidating, then they are not bold enough.
What do you want out of life ?
They say that no road will take you there, when you don’t know where you’re going. You must figure out what you want from life to start planning to make it happen. So many people walk through life aimlessly without a plan.
Knowing what you want out of life is the ultimate goal. Once you know what you are after, you can craft a plan to go after it. The best part is that no matter what you want to accomplish, chances are that someone out there has already done it, so you can learn from them by buying a book, taking a course, or researching your options.
Invest In Yourself
Every investment you make in yourself today will pay dividends for years.
How can you invest in yourself right now?
Learn a new skill.
Buy a book on a topic that fascinates you. Everything that you could want to learn about has been written about.
Prioritise health by eating better and exercising. You want to ensure that you’re physically and mentally prepared for whatever life brings you.
Take someone out for coffee or lunch. You can learn from others and gain an inside to how they live and enjoy life.
Attend an event or conference that interests you.
Be around people who are where you want to be one day.
Improve Yourself. Be Yourself
You have to know yourself and be self-aware enough to accept your limitations. This way you can make the necessary improvements.
Set small and attainable goals that will help you get to the finish line.
Life is not about what happens to you. It is about how you react to what happens to you.
Instead of blaming the world, you have to get into the habit of taking accountability for your situation.
You cannot choose what happens to you, but you can choose how you react to it.
How you respond to conflict and challenges will determine your strengths and give you more scope for improvement.
Example Case Study
I want to be a better person, I want more from my life, I can be Socially Awkward, I want to be more active and enjoy myself.
I want to help others to be the best they can and share my journey.
1
Make a Plan
Have an achievable plan.
Better Person. More from Life. Active. Enjoyment.
Research the steps that are required to achieve this goal. Make a list.
Analyse who you are Now and who you want to Become. What new skills do you need to learn to move towards this goal.
2
Comfort Zone
In order to progress towards our goal we MUST step out of our comfort zone.
Challenge yourself constantly.
In order to reach your goals, you need to force yourself into situations that may make you feel uncomfortable.
Yes this can make you anxious.
Yes this can make you scared.
Our emotions and fears that we experience, outside of our comfort zone are what we use to build strength and push forward to this better existence.
3
The Learning Zone
We learn through experiences. We are actively forcing ourselves outside of our comfort zone and in doing so we are experiencing new emotions and gaining new skills.
Now is the time to deal with challenges and problems, acquire new skills and extend your comfort zone. Take time out to reflect on these experiences. List down what you have done, how you feel and what you have achieved.
If you feel this was easy then you are not challenging yourself enough.
4
Growth
From your continual reflection you can plot your growth. This may be educational growth, social growth, health and general wellbeing growth. Your time of reflection should help you analyse what is working and what requires adjustment.
A tip would be to create a personal video diary of your journey. This will help you look back on your progress. You may think your progress to being a better person is slow, but when you review your videos, may see a bigger growth in your wellbeing than first thought.

a plan
I want to be more Active but I hate running and exercise is boring. I will force myself to join a gym. This will take me out of my comfort zone as I have to deal with social situations and exercise in front of others. I can use this time to talk to others and perhaps make some new friends.
COMFORT ZONE
So I will book an introduction session at my local gym. I will force myself to go Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I will ask for guidance when I need it
I will post on social media my progress and be positive about my experiences so as to reach out to others. I will go out of my way to offer others my help.
Learning zone
I felt anxious, I did not want to leave the house some days. People were looking at me. Why am I doing this !
BUT I went, I felt better for it, they are not looking at me, they are in the same boat. I looked back on the start of my day and now I feel stronger for overcoming the doubts I had. Tomorrow will be better still !
my growth
I have kept a video diary of my journey. To look back to the start is quite scary. I was less confident, socially awkward, stuck in the house all day. Almost hiding from the world.
To look at me now is like looking at a new person that I enjoy being. Always aware I need to reflect and continue my growth. Goodbye Comfort Zone. Hello new me.
